i stopped one of my family members from bragging about their money by telling them i was very very happy for them. but at same time i was very very sorry for them. because with all their money, they wasn't near as happy as i am with out it. i also told them to remember what our grandmother always said. a fool and their money soon part from each other. i believe the bragging is a sure sign of being unhappy. you just remember that money will not buy you happiness. it will give you troubles tho. i wish you a merry Christmas, and a happy new year.

Let them enjoy themselves they think they are impressing you.
Some people don't have a lot of friends from working 10 to 12 hours a day. So the only thing they do have is money.
If someone hasn't got anything better in his life than that to talk about feel sorry for them. Our family got together one talked about new additions to the family, complete with baby pictures. Another about weight she lost. Before and after pictures.
One added a back porch. Another got a new to him used car.
The lastest sport, such as football games. The ladies discussed how many calories in pecan pie. Everyone was interest in the war in Iraq. Should we or shouldn't we?
In other words everyone has to talk about something, so if money is there thing. Listen patiently! that's what familys are for.
Do you know how hard it is for a single guy to listen to how cute a baby is when it poops it's pants? And act interested.
that is the price we pay for being in a family.
Or worse, the eternal question. "When are you getting married?"
Maybe I should say, "Do you know how much money I make?"

Hello tina,

You could tell them how Good it makes you feel to hear they are so well off financially. Tell her you hope they are Enjoying every cent of it. Saying something like that could help them hear how stupid it sounds to brag about money, especially someone else's money ;)

Happy Holidays!!

I just smile and say 'nice for you' and if the subject doesn't drop, find somewhere to be that you can't hear them. If you move away from them often enough, they should get the hint. If they don't, you can always say, well, money isn't that important to me - or whatever words you might want to use to that effect.

Either ignore it and change the subject, or say, "Oh, how nice for you" in a cool tone of voice. Unfortunately, you can't teach other people manners!

you would just ask them... why would it matter that they have money. All that you need in life is family and friends to be with... that is what i think.
