Should never give a dog a bath more than they need it because it dries out their coat. However, it is ok to just wash them off with water. I was told by a vet not to give a dog a bath more than twice every six months because if their skin gets dried out enough they will scratch constantly. So when he gets dirty just wash him off with some cold or warm water.

Well if your dog loves to go and play outside in the dirt or just outside you might want to give he/she about two baths a week and if your dog stays inside then one bath a week but if you want he/she to smell good you can do two. And make sure not to put water on the face or by the ears when you bathe your dog then the will automatically start to have ear infections. To clean the ears like take the cotton ball and put it in he/shes ear the take out and for the face you use a warm wash cloth with a little bit of soap not to much or your screwed.

simba, my shiba, gets bathed every three weeks or so, she has never had a problem with dog breath, and she would eat anything if we let her, but has ONLY gotten SLIGHTLY funky after two weeks, we've had her a year, and still use puppy shampoo(tearless, light baby powder scent) It coats the hair in scent, but the skin still has a light funk, but you have to try really hard to smell it. she plays outside and digs all the time, will get into anything!!! I shower with her and she hates it. It takes a lot of patience and a lot of talking to(ohh, you're such a good dog) stuff like that. I use a removable shower head. She does'nt like water in her face, and jumps to try to escape through a closed shower door sometimes, but does'nt mind luke warm water any where else. I try to dry her before she leaves the shower as she will rub herself on the couch, bed, rugs. in short she does'nt seem to like water too much. hope this helps

I easily have 2 canines, a sheltie and a mixed breed. The Sheltie should be bathed each and every 4 to 6 weeks or she gets a doggie scent. The mixed breed has only had 2 baths her entire 6 years of life. She basically does not scent like a canines! you are able to bury your nostril into her fur and no scent....its distinctly surprising. It could desire to be the breeds she a mix of. besides, whether you're utilising products hand-crafted by utilising your therapist, it could have an unfavorable result on the canines and easily reason the canines to sniff worse in case you employ something that irritates its pores and skin. Brushing the canines thoroughly on a daily basis and utilising a grooming spray which may well be latest in a reliable puppy save will additionally help with the doggie scent. There are additionally spray on products that are okay to apply on a canines that get rid of scent. grimy or contaminated ears could reason a canines to sniff undesirable, besides as impacted anal glands.

Bathe him once a month. Use a conditioning shampoo and a conditioner after shampooing, too.
These dogs are groomed all the time when they show in the ring. Just try to keep it well conditioned and you should be ok bathing whenever you think he stinks!

You can bathe your dog once a month and it shouldn't be a problem. Get a puppy shampoo that is tearless or if he is grown there are some good Fresh Scent brands with Aloe and baking soda available at pet stores.
Just be sure to use a good shampoo and rinse him well. Even twice a month could be okay if he gets really dirty.

Well to tell you the truth I bathe my dog once a week. I used to be a dog groomer and there were people who came in almost daily where I worked. But I would suggest to be on the safe side every two weeks and if he is extremely smelly. You should use a moisturizing conditioner unless his hair is greasy. But if you use flea control you may end up using it more often. It is recommended to use it three days after the bath. But hey I would honestly listen to your vet over me.

We have a Maltese with beautiful white coat, we bathe her once a week with a shampoo that has conditioner in it! You will know if you are bathing your dog too much because his skin will be dry and flay like dandruff. It won't hurt your dog to experiment with how often you bathe him!
Good Luck!

Only give him a bath when he REALLY needs it, particularly in the winter months when the air is do dry. Once a month would be the max. You can really keep his skin and coat in beautiful condition by giving him either a salmon oil capsule daily, or about 1 tablespoon of veg. oil on his food.
