Okay, viscious dogs you should never look them in the eye. However, you have to keep your eye on them to see if they're coming at you. How would you go about that one? Also, what if you show no signs of fear and it comes after you regardless, is there a reason other than fear a dog would come after you. I'm not on the person's property so it's not guarding anything, it's a stray dog, I'm walking on a street and it happens to see me. Do some dogs just attack people for the hell of it?

There are always reasons why dogs "bite" and they are not so clear to us. Depending on the dog and the reason why he is biting, it can get extremely dangerous. Most dogs that will bite on the street, will do so out of defense, they think that they are being threatened. The best defense against that is to stand sideways and present as small a target as possible for the dog. REALIZE that you will get bitten and ACCEPT It. BAck off as slow as possible and always keeping the dog to your side and keeping an eye on him. Do not run as this will stimulate the dogs pray drive and it will chase. Dogs bite the hardest in pray drive. Defense bites are not as hard most of the time, but they are more violent. And please, do not listen to the idiots that tell you to to stupid things like sticking your hand down a dog's throat or kicking him in the nuts. It will only put the dog into a worse case of self defense and make your situation worse.

Well you're talking about a stray dog, it probably hasn't had any socialization or training and doesn't know how to properly interact with people. To the stray dog the street is likely their property and they see anyone as a threat. Also this dog has likely never had a good encounter with a person, probably gets chased off and yelled at alot. So there are a number of reason's it may act aggressive. Dogs don't generally attack for the "hell of it", although their reasons may not be clear to us.
This illustrates the problem stray dogs cause (usually as a result of humans being irresponsible)

You don't look a dog in the eye because they see it as a challenge. Also, if you're afraid, looking at the dog or not doesn't mean anything, the dog smells your fear.
And of course there are dogs with bad temperaments out there who will attack just for the hell of it! Don't run and don't turn your back on it.

Well when you have a dog and the all of the sudden start attacking you then the probably want to play but if they act all vicious and stuff then you probably think that you have no fear but deep inside you really do. and they can sense fear. So be brave and if he still doesn't stop then contact your local vet.

Most of the time, if a dog runs up to attack you, you can trick it by saying in a nice happy voice, "good dog, such a sweet puppy" or something like that. If it still attaks you, usually you can get it off by kicking it in the gut or sticking your hand into the back of its throat.

dogs can attack you regardless of your feelings. whether or not you have done anything does not matter to the dog. a stray may be ill or hungry or confused and any of these things can cause it to act irrational. contact your local humane society for more information on how to handle this situation.

Yes, they will, but it's rare in the US. It occurs for two reasons, the most common being that you somehow triggered the predator instinct in the dog - with your shadow, a noise, your motion, direction, etc.
