Are you not aware that both prayer and a class called Bible existed in the schools 50 years ago?
Are you aware also that grade scores have been going down over the last 30 years?
Are you aware that George Washington said that religion should be taught in schools because it was important to teach morality in schools.
Why are algebra and chemistry scores so low now?

There are no provisions in church as to what subject is being discussed, algebra and chemistry would be fine. That being said, not all Christians agree with organized group prayer in the schools, prayer in and of itself is already allowed. Any student can pray at any time.

Do we have prayer in schools? Who would go to Sunday services if they tried to teach algebra or chemistry?

There was a time, very recently disposed of, when Sunday school WAS school for most kids. It wasn't little house on the prairie and a cute schoolhouse. Along with learning how to read, write, mathematics, nature.....kids got a godly world view.

Agreeable, provided the algebra and chemistry classes last as long as the prayer does.

Education got its start with religious institutions and only in this century have we begun to separate them out. As far as I can see, from the current state of education and comparing catholic schools to public, separating the two hasn't done much good. I really haven't noticed churches suing to keep scientific discussion out.

furthermore we should let the kids pray to whomever they choose. and if prayer requires some incense and a little sacrifice for their religion, we should allow that as well. so sally prays to jesus, laura to YHWH, and billy to Satan. what a colourful classroom! most proponents for the prayer in school only want christian prayer. just like Goode who thinks that only the bible can be used for the swearing in of public officials... how moronic. allow prayer in schools... and let the virgin sacrifices begin!

God helps us to learn - thats why we pray for guidance as we learn
Daniel 6:11 - "Then these men assembled and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God"
Algebra doesn't help us to worship God, which is the point in going to church.
I didn't pray at my school, my school doesn't do it anymore anyway
