If you insist on keeping the myth of the effectiveness of prayer alive, you owe the rest of us a justification in the face of the evidence. Pending such a justification, I will excuse you for indulging in your tradition; I know how comforting tradition can be. But I want you to recognize that what you are doing is morally problematic at best.

Very nice article, thanks. That was a good read.

I couldn't agree more, except I don't excuse them for indulging in their tradition.

The simple fact that people keep on advertizing a God that can perfrom miracle healings is causing some others to stop using medication. It's this last category of gullable people that need protection from this nonsense, because for this category it is dangerous.

There are in fact people dying simply because they stop medical treatment in hope for a divine miracle.

Sorry, but I can't bring myself to excuse that tradition.

On the contrary prayer can be the most comforting thing that people in distress can do.For non-believers it may seem impossible to fathom the idea of how prayer works, without a visible explanation. Most fail to acknowledge the fact that modern science was not created by man.All medical findings are are perceived as original ideas, but are only the result of something that was established before time began.

Totally disagree. I don't "owe the rest of" ANYONE any "justification" of ANYTHING that I do or believe in. None. "In the fact of evidence"? What Perry Mason episode were you watching??

Thank you for wanting to decide what is not "morally problematic" for me, at best. I excuse you for indulging in your fantasy. I know how comforting your imagination can be.

Prayer becomes a quick and simple way to feel like you've done something.

Which means that the world's evils continue.

God has made it clear that he ain't going to do anything. It's up to us to act.

Those who do not ask for prayer are the ones who need it the most. Humanism is a cheap substitute for gratitude towards God.
Misdirected thanksgiving is a shame.

When you come to realize why you were created by God you may then get to know how effective prayer can be.

It often makes me sad how we down-play the REAL contributions of REAL people to our well-being. He's right, we should all thank goodness! That's the goodness of our fellow human beings.

If our existence is improbable so much so that a supreme being had to create us, then I say that the creation of a supreme being is that much more improbable.
