How come in stores when theres a bell that says "ring bell for service" when you ring it nobody comes?

Generally it will be a case of either, other people cant hear it because they are too far away, or they are too busy to serve you at the given moment when you ring the bell.

When you ring a bell it makes a sound which travels through the air. the idea is that somebody hears it through their ears to know that somebody else needs assistance.

Because they are either A) Wanting to get a laugh so they set out that sign and watch from around the corner to see how long it takes before someone gives up (and you can tell who the stupid ones are. they ring and ring and ring. consider it an intelligence test.) or B) don't give a s**t about their job, so they place the sign and step into another room for a smoke, nap, phone call, sex, etc. They can't just use a sign that says "Go the f**k away!" that would be just plain rude. These are my theories. But I don't hold much stock in my beliefs. I'm that guy that would ring that bell twenty times never getting the hint.

Start picking up things and sampling them..be just a "tad" obnoxious" and I GUARANTEE you'll get noticed..if not by SALES; at least by SECURITY!
