Labrodors or Golden Retreivers!

2006-12-25 08:55:07 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

labradors and golden retrievers are very smart dogs. they are both good with kids and protective. if i had kids those are the two i would consider or a mix of both seems to combine the best traits of the two. if possible get a puppie. i say that because older dogs that come from another family somtimes are either abused, and any dog that has been abused can be dangerous sooner or later(you never know), or a dog that has been seperated from one family may not take to another family so well, or may not be protective to the new family because they may not know ther are supposed to protect the new family.

It depends on how old your kids are. It depends on who is going to be responsible for the dog. Normally a Lab for a big dog and a Maltese for a small dog (just cut the hair short so u don't have to brush it all the time)

I wouldn't reccommend getting a dog for very young kids, but if they're mature enough to know how to treat an animal, I'd reccommend a cocker spaniel or a golden retriever. They're sweet dogs with great temperaments and they have the energy to keep up with kids.

Get a Golden Retriever or a Labrador Retriever. They are the best for kids, kids love them, they love kids, they never bite, and they're very energetic so they're good for playing with kids. I would reccomend staying away from small dogs such as shi tzus and terriers because they can growl, bite, and are meaner than golden and labrador retrievers.

I agree with Angela in that you should make sure that your children are old enough to know how to treat the animal. I think that you should get a pup as the dog will then know children from the start. i have a shih tzu who is fantastic with people of all ages and is very energetic so children would get a lot of enjoyment out of it. Good luck, and remember its not just for christmas!!

I probably would suggest getting an older dog that is already used to kids, because the problem you have when you get a puppy with kids is that they have a tendency to snap at kids.

It really depends. You want a friendly dog, but you should ask your kids (or get someone else to) what kind they want. Personally, I like golden retrievers, but they shed and drool a lot (you might not like that).
