Talk to him and your mother at the same time. Get all your feeling out, whether they like it or not. Family problems, deserve time to listen!

A majority of step-children like yourself believe that anything a step parent does that would seem to be controlling is considered being mean.
Basically, step children resent the fact that they have a new parent and that person is now responsible for you and what you do. They have the same rights as a regular parent would.
Your step dad and your mom and you should sit down and talk about this without getting mad at each other. Each of you should be concerned about this issue. It will do no good to fight over the issue of your step dad controlling you in one way or another.
Just because he's a step dad doesn't give you the right to ignore what he tells you to do. He deserves respect just like your real father would if he were still living in the home.
All of you sit down and discuss the problems. Let your dad read my response. I'm a step-father had this same problem and me and my step kids sat down and i listened to what they had to say and then they listened to what i had to say and we better understood eachother.
Being a step child isn't easy and it's not easy to be a step parent either. Nobody is perfect and we shoudn't even try to be, but we have to do our best to get along with each other in order to be happy.

All depends on how he is being mean, if he is looking after your best interest, he is not mean. Best to talk with your Mom about this.
