usually when I dont want my cat 2 do somthing I just pull him by the scruff it doesnt hurt him that bad but it teaches him a lesson and he'll never do it again.

If the cat is not an adult when you got it then, you might be able to train him/her to not clawing the furniture or marking the area.
Most cats learn their behavior from the time of kittens and declawing or punishing them after that time will only curb their actions some. Also depends on their intelligence.
Rewards can help in the training to be good too, not all the time though.

If you have a wild cat you should bring him to the vet to get declawed and get the cats shots so that he can not get sick or die but you might also want to get he/she declawed.

you can train him by only giving him treats when calm.
