dude, first of all dont ask a question about the bible if you cleary havent been reading a lot of it. second of all, we should respect our parents to an extent which would be if they tell you to do something sinful, follow the Lords commands, not theirs. also, keeping the Lords day Holy is not working on Sunday but dedicating it to the Lord and spend the entire day with Him. and if we have other gods before him which just arent things lik buddha and stuff, but the things we spend more time on than God. and religious intolerance is not bad when the person being intolerant is trying to get others to see taht they are wrong and that there is a wayto life after death. that sounds like the right intentions, which is all God wants.

If you really think honoring your mother and father means to be their puppet, you demonstrate that you're not only misinformed but that refuse to even bring your mind to bear on the issue.
Regarding the Sabbath, in the Old Testament they refrained from working in order to honor the day. However, since Jesus is the substance and fulfillment of the Sabbath, anyone who belongs to Jesus is keeping the Sabbath.
Commandment 1: Why would you be so intolerant of someone trying to follow a command...sounds a little hypocritical to me.

Honor thy mother and father means just what it says honor them not duplicate them. GOD gave us minds to use and the free will to follow our believes. And keeping the sabbath holy is to rest on the sabbath as GOD did,it doesn't have anything to do with shopping. And the first commandment stating I am the Lord thy God thou shall have no other god before me means simply that we should not worship a false god such as David Koresh or any false idols. GOD is GOD no matter what name you use, such as Buddha, Allah, YHWH. I think your safe as far as shopping on the Sunday if that is really what you want to do.Personally I think church would help you learn about the proper meaning of the commandments rather than coming to yahoo and looking foolish.

No. Honor is not even as strong as obey in my opinion, which is closer to unquestioningly taking on their beliefs. To honor thy parents is simply to respect them and the work they have put in on your behalf. Remembering that they are entitled to their opinions, and while they might move with the times, their views and values are a part of who they are and a part of who you are. Honestly, we seem to want to be like our parents or very different from them and that is the beauty of the relationship.
I find that the faithful particularly want people to reflect and appreciate the magic in our existence - to stop and smell the roses, as it were. That's what #4 sounds like to me.
#1 is also a reminder that jesus is not the one to be worshiped, nor moses or any of the other gods of the past. It means if you are going to follow this path, then you need to be with God 100%. I don't see anything about not tolerating others of different beliefs or taking up arms agains those who are different in that statement.
Peace!

#5 If I had done this-I'd be unmarried and living at home (as my mother wanted), still been in their religion, which I could not handle, and been a bigot on race and religion and lived in a ''shell''. There is a difference between honor and respect. Honor, I could not do.
#4 My Shabbat is Saturday.
#5 If I believed this, I'd have still been in my parents' religion. There is no G-d but G-d, and Jesus is not G-d....my belief. To me, this is blasphemy. I do respect all religions-each must find his own way.

No it doesn't mean that you shoud just take on what ever you mother and father say. It means that you should respect them.
They have lived longer than you, gained more experience and gave life to you. You should give them their dues.
As for the other commandments, they are rules to be followed by christians. If you don't feel they are applicable to life today then please tell us. But a lot of Christian rules are still applicable today.

For children, it means to obey them and do the things they ask you to do. For grown adults, it means treat them lovingly and with respect.
And about Commandment #1... if God is God, why should He tolerate other "beings" being treated like God. If I was God, I would sure hate that! Why should you command God to be tolerant? Not to be ... whatever ... but that's a pretty dumb statement. Think about it.

It's says "honor", look up the word "honor" and compare it with "obey" and with "to follow blindly". There's a difference.
Only children are told to obey. "honor" means something different.
religious intolerance, that's rich
and violence, what????

if your parents tell you to do something that is against God then don't do it. but if your parents are telling you to do something that is what God wants you to do, then you should do it. and also, the 10 Commandments are NOT wack!
