How do you do this? I am challenging myself to do this, but it is hard and I am looking for examples/advice. Right now, what I am challenging myself to do is to imagine myself stepped outside my own body, standing as a soul beside Jesus' light, and ask myself if my thoughts or decisions about a person would be thoughts and decisions Jesus would have. It's painful because I keep questioning WHY I feel dislike for some people (mainly those who are rude, greedy, selfish, or have hurt me) and I can't always discern an answer, I just don't like them.

In order to become more enlightened, how does one strip away this handicap and just love regardless of how it is received? How do we do this?

A long time ago I thought that love was something that you reserved for some special set of people that you had judged worthy of it.

After a while I got to thinking about what Jesus had said about turning the other cheek and loving our neighbor I put the two together and realized that he had made no exceptions in these statements. It became obvious to me that he intended that we exclude no one from the love that we are supposed to be giving. I started thinking about my idea of love and suddenly realized that I had not been loving anyone at all. I had simply been judging everyone and every thing.

Judging someone worthy of love is not love, it is only judgment. I actually started to cry when I realized this. I saw just how much of my life I had wasted being judgmental, thinking of myself as a Christian, when I was actually doing just the opposite of what Jesus had asked us to do.

I thought about the verse judge not lest ye be judged, and I understood it for the first time.

I realized that I have a lot of catching up to do. So many opportunities were wasted. I now try to apply the love that I have for the world in a universal way like Jesus asks us to do.

If I start to feel afraid and think that I see someone that I should not love because of something I have thought or heard I try to catch my mistake as soon as possible. I tell myself that I have forgot the truth and have fallen for the same old trick that had cost me so many opportunities to be loving in the past. The horror of this realization is often all that is necessary to bring me back to my senses and make me drop the judgmental nonsense I was thinking.

I still have a lot to learn about love, but at least I’m making progress. Email if you want to talk about this.

That is excellent to do!!! You just have to continue to grow in strength and faith. It is a growing process... Remember that you are only human and will make mistakes and sin even when you are trying with all your being to be Christ-like. We can never be perfect in this corrupted body. As long as you know this, just continue in your walk forward. Know there will be steps back, but brush yourself off, get back up and continue forward toward Him.

There is a good reason you dislike those kinds of people and that is because God does!! If the Holy Spirit resides within you, you will be more aware of the things that God hates. They will disgust you to no end. How do you look past human vileness? I don't know. We can only grow in faith and know that we are sinners as well. The only difference between a Christian and them is the fact that we are forgiven.

So you want to know how many of others love us truly ? I am not an expert. But I should say that believe on your parents. They really love you always. Regarding your friends. Never rely on anyone totally.Always be aware that if everyone fails to stand to help you.you are on your own. So do not care about how many really love you. Just be aware that love those who show love to you too not by words but by deeds. And always be ready for any type of bad conditions.

You can show love (be nice) to everyone but you cannot feel love for everyone.

Why? Love is an attraction to a person, place, thing, or idea.

In regards to people you cannot be attracted to everyone.

Can a magnetic Dart stick to two walls that are on opposite sides of the room.

You can however, be attracted to several people who share your common interests.

Enough said?

That shows great christian maturity to admit that you do not of yourself automatically love people. Love is a choice of action...not always of feeling....like in a marriage. After the fun feeling in marriage has worn off it takes more of a decided choice to be nice at times. That is why we need to pray for a clean heart and a right spirit because we do not have these all by ourselves. God will give us the desire to be kind and love people in order to please Him.

The best way for me? Practice kindness toward those you dislike. Pray for them. Stop worrying about loving them, it will come in time. Most important, read the following scripture.

There is a saying that people are mirrors of ourselves. For instance if we like a person it mirrors that what we would like to be or have. If we dislike a person we dislike that same part of us.

Love doesn't mean LIKING what everyone does. It means that you understand that each of us is doing the best that we can at any particular time. It means acknowledging that we are all part of the same whole.

You don't have to feel love. You just have to act in love.
