I used to swim year round (no too long ago) and I ate just about whatever I wanted and never gained any weight. However, I've stopped swimming and have put on several pounds. I've started doing some light exercising recently like running around 2.5 miles a day and a little ab work. However, I haven't figured out a good diet plan to stay on that would help me drop maybe 10-15 pounds decently fast. If anyone could give me a pretty specific diet plan with like portions and everything, that'd be very helpful.

Keep a food diary and make sure you do not exceed 1200 or 1300 calories a day. During meals your plate should be covered mainly in vegitables and small portions of the rest. I also use measuring cups for my food so I know my portions are not bigger than what I'm thinking... you will learn soon how it looks in size so you don't have to use measuring cups. For butter, I use the I can't believe it's not butter spray because it is 0 calories. If you want soda, drink diet soda with out caffeine. Keep healthy snacks around and if you have family living with you, designate one cabinet that is for healthy food only so you don't see the worse snacks when grabbing yours. Print out nutrion guides from any restaurants you frequent so you can keep track of your calories. People are right about eating lighter at night, you have more chance of burning the calories you eat earlier in the day than you do later. So "eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper." You also need to add aerobics into the mix.

Well, one pound equals 3,500 calories. If you want to lose one pound a week (definitey doable) then you need to somehow take 500 calories out of your diet every day (500 x 7 days = 3500 calories). Those calories can come from food, exercise or a combination. For instance, taking out just one can of soda can be 150 calories, a candy bar or chips, another 300 calories, and walking an extra mile 100 calories.

I would also suggest smaller meals but eat more often. Breakfast @ 8 am (cereal & juice) - banana @ 10:30 am - sandwich & carrot sticks @ noon - granola bar @ 3 pm - chicken, salad & apple @ 6 pm, popcorn @ 8:30 pm. You won't be so ravenous by the time supper comes around so you'll focus more on the taste of the food, rather than seeing how fast you can satiate your appetitie (which takes 20 minutes - so drink a glass of water first then see if you are really hungry or if you were just thirsty!).

A great website below (free!) lets you track your exercise (even gives calories for sex!) and food....

Hi I think you can stick to a high fiber and low car diet.
Typically you can have a good breafast of cereal and milk in the morning. Then when hungry begins to feelhave some nuts (about 1/4 cup). For lunch have a serving of carbohydrate like wheat bread alongwith vegetables and fruits of which you should have ateast 2 portions. Then you can have a tea or coffee around 4 but plz stick to normal coffee without any sort of added cream. Then you can have an early dinner around 7 but here you have to omit the carbohydrate part.you may eat proteins like chcken, fish if you are a non-veg or then soy but include salads and soups too. and drink plenty of water during the whole day. dinner should be your last meal and do not eat anything after that.
however do not try this if you are suffering from any condition amd yes you have to continue the exercise all the time...Skip desserts ...

Sorry Alice, this ain't Wonderland. Why don't you just take responsibility for yourself. You know what the problem is already but sound like you're fishing for a magic bullet.

In any case, you've started well and should continue with the daily running and ab routines, except that the running/ walking/ jogging should continue for at least 1 hour. Drink lots of water. Do stretching and upper body toning. Eat fruits & vegetables.

No alcohol
no bread
no burgers
No candy
No chips
no corn
no fried foods
No pasta
No pizza
No potatoes
No sodas
No sugar

Good Luck

I agree w/ the above post..I'd say that you switch your meals around..like when you first wake up in the morning, eat a huge breakfast..like chicken, salad...ect..and for lunch, just eat soup in smaller portions..and for dinner..eat breakfast food like cereal, banana, ect..you should switch the foods around..it's healthier that way and don't eat after 6!! but if you're very hungry just eat an orange and drink lots and lots of water..
