In some ways, it does hurt a little. I have sensitive teeth and when the Ortho was removing my braces he used this buffer type thing to get them off. That caused me to cringe and such. Just let the Ortho know that you are uncomfortable and he'll use less pressure when cleaning the glue and such off. I would try to see if you could talk to the orhtodontist by asking some questions and it would make you feel better by having you reasured that there's not a whole lot of pain getting them off. You will have an awful rubber taste that you're probably used to when they check your teeth and they will also use a blue light sorta thing to melt the glue off (I had that done and it don't hurt at all)
The reward is that you will have a beautiful smile and you'd be able to eat the foods that you have been longing for in the past years when you had them on. Like others said up above your teeth will feel awful slimey for a week or so ( it lasted that long for me) and your lips will feel stretched and heavy. Don't worry about it. You're teeth will look awesome!

It hurts a bit but not nearly as much as getting them put on. They mostly just pry them off and buff off the glue. Your teeth are going to feel all slimy, and your lips will feel like they're too big for your mouth.
This all goes away pretty quickly, and soon you'll be eating peanut brittle and chewing gum with the best of them.
Congrats on surviving braces!

I don't remember what exactly they do to remove them because it's been so long, but I don't think it hurt too much for me. Any sort of pain that you'll experience will be overriden by the joy you'll feel after those pesky braces are gone.

it doesn't hurt for most of the part.
the only part that hurt me was when they took out the back sliver things. they had a hard time putting them in & i hard time taking them out. they had to use a thing, its liek a diamod or something that takes off the glue, that felt weird, a little bit. but trust me, it doesnt hurt. my teeth felt like jello when they were taken off. i did not like it when they took the mold of my mouth. the gloopy stuff. was going down my throat & it was annoying. It doesnt hurt one bit, basically. trust me, you will enjoy having them off! :-)
best wishes
