I truly don't believe in mixing the breeds of these animals. Pure bred should be bred with another pure bred. I have a pure bred sheltie and she is so sweet natured. If you start mixes the breeds then you never know what you will get. I had to sign papers with the breeder that I bought her from saying that I would have her fixed, she wouldn't give me her papers until I showed proof of that.

Breeders generally don't double up on the merle gene, it can cause problems. Blues are bred to tri or bi colors.

Well, yeah, all dogs can mate with each other, unless it's a chihuahua and a Great Dane!
