I am 16 and have been drinking very small amount since i was 14. About six months ago i went crazy and had i LOT (15 mixed shots of various spirits and 4 cans of beer) and was very very sick. I kept losing consciousness and my friends almost called an ambulance. I'll never drink that much again but now when i drink any amount, even a sip, i immediately feel like i want to throw up and my mouth produces a lot of saliva. What is happening and is it possible to build an intolerance to alcohol?

P.S. don't just tell me how bad underage drinking is please as i know its very unhealthy, but i don't do it much and i drink responsibly most of the time. I am genuinely worried about my health and i would like some productive advice please.

It's possible to have such a bad experience with drinking that you have an aversion to it.

Remember when your folks would give you a nasty tasting medicine (NyQuil was mine) that would make you gag just at the thought? That's what you're experiencing here.

It seems that all of the above answers are true, or could be. We aren't doctors so we wouldn't know for certain.

However, it could be that you have definately made yourself allergic to alcohol, this happens with any product at any time, your body can become allergic to anything for any reason.

It may be mental also,as the one person said. Sometimes we do things that are traumatic, and in our minds it like flips a switch. Post dramatic stress happens in cases of accidents and things of that nature, and you could be experiencing some type of mental block when it comes to alcohol.

As for drinking, nothing good is gained from it. I don't want to preach to you about it, but you really ought to be finding something more productive to do with your time. You have the entirety of your life to "drink" if you wish to. It's really nothing fun. Most people have a good time while drinking, it's lets us relax and cut loose, I am not saying it's bad to drink either. But it seems, that you were not responsible when it came to drinking and that is what concerns me. Accidents happen, and you CAN die from alcohol poisoning very easily, I have seen it happen.

o.k. you did a dumb move and got alcohol poisoning. now, everytime you drink your body remembers the last time and its mad. This is a clue that you shouldnt drink. maybe soon, like in five years you should try a beer again. see binge drinking kills people and is a sign of an oncoming alcohol problem. if you keep drinking, even "responsibly" you will pull this dumb move again and maybe the next time youll die. anyways good luck and mery christmas.

It might be just association. I know people who have been very very drunk on one particular type of alcohol (tequila is notorious) and can never drink that type again because even the smell of it makes them sick. Probably even the smell of alcohol reminds you and your body so much of that bad experience that it reacts by making you nauseous.

yes it is. I've alwyas been intolerable to alcohol. when i was 17, i started to drink, & the slightest alcohol would make me hyperventilate & had asthma attacks & it would make me want to pass out, I've heard some people are just not able to drink alcohol.
it seems you are showing sings of becoming intolerable to alcohol, which is a blessing really as ur body is showing you it doesn't want it.

Believe it or not a person who has drunk a lot during their life begins to require less and less alcohol to get them drunk. They lose their tolerance for the alcohol

Maybe you are sick with the flu and not a hangover. 3 and 1/2 beers shouldn't make you feel that bad.

You have become allergic to alcohol, stay away from it, as it is a sign from your body.
