genuine love for the Creator and what He has done? I think that becoming saved to escape hell is the wrong way to go about it because it is setting someone up as self serving. I know many people believe Christianity is based upon control and fear, but if Christianity is a reflection of the truth, then why do people base their judgments upon Christianity like that?

what christian people do you know that are self serving ?Because the part of being a christian is serving the Lord not your self ! I t should be out of genuine love for God because He sent his one and only son down to this earth to die for our sins. Jesus at any time could have called on thousands of angels to get him off the cross .each persons salvation is thier own and is unique God can use any thing any situation to bring someone to their knees . If it is genuine and heartfelt I don't see what it matters only that their name is written in the Book Of Life . It really is not giving up out of fear . I see it as finally having some one there who will never let me down someone who knows the real me and loves me any way . I see it as reflection of truth in each individual it's the same thing as being a sunday christian and the rest of the week not being the same person that you were when you were sitting in that pew . I think most people see it as judge mental because we as christians do not always act real .

Sure. Fear of death is a major factor in why people identify with some religion, not just Christianity. In spite of their saying so, there is no such thing as a "genuine love for the Creator". The reason is that most people actually fear any God, not unlike a 4 year old sitting in Santa's Lap and bursting into tears. They are not capable of loving such a creature but their fears make them say the most absurd things.

People join religions for many reasons. Among them are 1. fear of death, 2. traditions of their culture, society, and family, 3. desire to be a member in an elite group that has privileges over the unsaved, the second class citizens, the foreigners, and unbelievers, 4. to avoid the persecution of being an unbeliever.

In the beginning it is always self-serving as that is human nature. A person is not "saved" until God sends them His Holy Spirit. This does not happen unless God has read their heart and mind and determines that their belief and faith is true. What I'm saying is that at some point it moves from self-serving to serving and that end can only be accomplished by God.

Some of the most vocal Christians, here and elsewhere, speak 'love' but act 'hate.' They often use threats of eternal hellfire to try to convert people who think and act differently than they do.

They aren't willing to even consider that calling that 'love' is beyond arrogant.

Based on that, and my own up-bringing in the Church, I think that control and fear is a far stronger motivator than most are willing to admit. Even if their fear is really fear of their community.

Most do yeah but that's not the only reason. To be honest after i became saved i felt complete because i used to be a hindu and i never liked worshipping the Gods and i did it because my parents forced me to!! When your saved you have god and his comfort!! If you have any more questions you should go to southhavenbaptist.org and listen to some messages from my pastor and other people!!

If more preachers, pastors etc. preached the life changing characteristics of Jesus Christ/ how your life will be radically changed instead of fire and brimstone more people would come to Christ for the right reasons. People who get saved just so they won't go to hell are missing out on the daily walk with God and all he can do for you.

Utmost ethical standards ? via whose reckoning ? The God and writer of the universe would not think of lots approximately your ethical code once you despise Him, deny Him, get as much as Him and oppose Him and all who're in seek of the reality of God in sincerity and humility. in actuality, anybody is born with some innate experience of God, because of the fact the ordered Universe makes it obvious to all. Now regardless of in case you perception of the reality of issues is out of line, in case your purpose and are available to a determination is truthful, that is going to lead you in the direction of the reality; yet in actuality each and every guy has a perverse bent in the direction of selfishness and is thru nature a insurrection against God. Now God won't condemn you on your nature, yet he will decide you in accordance on your deeds. once you decide on sin, you gradually grow to be the slave of sin, basically as somewhat as an alcoholic who at some point desperate to have his first drink, and over the years got here to attain the only that could positioned an end to his eating became his own dying. Your skill to precise the authentic nature of issues via analogy once you ignore appropriate to the supervisor ingredient in the equation is approximately as sturdy a mathematician who seeks to artwork an equation, yet denies the existence of all even numbers. base line - you're in darkness. you don't be attentive to the place you got here from, what you're, or the place you're going; and you would be held to blame for all of this, because of the fact it could have been made be attentive to to you, if basically you had listened to the be attentive to God.

Good question. Except we do not become saved. God saves us. We can not save ourselves. When Christ died he saved everyone. All we have to do is believe. No one can make you believe anything. Most people confess Jesus, but they do not believe in him. Belief is the key.

This is a deep question for many people. i am a Christian, and i must point out that it is not my decision to be saved. i have done wrong, everybody does things wrong (we are all humans after all), it is God's choice to forgive me though. i don't know what your views are or justice, or karma and things like that. but i believe that i should receive a punishment that i deserve. if i punch someone in the face, i deserve to get punched in the face! if i reject God, then God should reject me (thats called 'Going to hell'")

Saying you're a Christian when you're not is wrong (dishonesty). Saying that you're a Christian just to avoid hell is also wrong (there are better reasons to be alive)

Matthew 7:21-23 - (Jesus speaking) "“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’"

I am one of God's because i love God, and more importantly he loves me!
