Are you going to do this as an organized drive? One thing to consider is actually working with a registered charity to set this up, so that people can get a tax write-off for their donations. That tends to be a big issue when attempting to solicit help.

Cool idea to start out now for next year.

One idea, get in touch with local sports teams and see if they will let you do promotional days where people can bring in toys to donate, in exchange for a free beer or soda or something.

Many NFL teams help with Toys for Tots, why not get minor league baseball, basketball, soccer teams involved with the idea?

I honestly wish that I was financially able to honey. I have five of my own and custody of four others. If you are seriously wishing to help out the less fortunate, contact your local police/fire department, or maybe your local schools and churches. Alot of times they've already gathered donations, they just don't know where to send them. I wish you luck!
