Take it from someone who's been waiting longer than 2 yrs... go now as fast as you can. A little hurt now is better than a whole lotta hurt later.
P.S what makes matters worse is his a momma's boy...you think you ever gonna fill those shoes.

Depends. When did he buy the ring? Also, Xmas is coming you might be jumping the gun. If you don't get the ring at Xmas, ask him his intentions in Jan. Don't push him to give it to you though. You might drive him away. However, if you feel that this is hurtful and that he is someone not committed or not willing to commit further, for whatever reason, then you need to examine your feelings. It doesn't matter how nice his mom is or how much you love him, you cannot make him feel different than he does. Knowing that may cause you to leave him.
However, If you like his mom, love him and he has bought you a ring and is only waiting for the right moment to give it to you, then why worry and even think of moving on. If you leave, let it be because you are unhappy, not because he has missed an imaginary deadline.
I hope this assists you

Talk to him about marriage. Ask him what he thinks about it, would he, and things like that--that is, if you're not supposed to know about the ring. If it's ok to know, you might want to hold on. He could be waiting for the special day!

If you're asking yourself if it's time to move on, it probably is. You obviously have some underlying doubts and uncertainties. You're definately NOT ready to be engaged, so whatever you do, don't accept the ring unless you're POSITIVE.
