No,the lighters you are thinking of don't get anywhere near hot enough to melt the sugar.Buy a small butane torch instead. You should be able to find one at any store that sells cookware and other kitchen appliances. If this is not an option for you,you can also put your custard ramekins under the broiler for a few minutes.

There are two good methods i've seen for browning a creme brulee - use a blowtorch (get a proper one rather than a cooking one if you can - they're better) or you can buy metal discs on handles which are the same size as the ramekins you cook the creme brulee in. Heat one of those on the stove until it's really hot and then place it on top of the sugar.

I love creme brulee!

You're not really going to get much consistent heat from that. If you don't have a blow torch, then put the brulees under the broiler and watch carefully.

I don't believe so, if it does work it would take a LOT of lighter fluid which might alter the flavor of your dessert. The point of the torch flame is to actually melt and crystallize the sugar, which requires a very high temperature

You could use a torch lighter. Just try not to get the actual flame into the food too much.

Not sure how that method would turn out. If you don't have a blow torch, you can put it under the broiler to caramelize

I don't think it's a good idea.
I would recommend that you put in the broiler and watch it carefully
