my dance teacher wraps her skin in plastic wrap (saran wrap) benethe her clothing. her stomach thighs and upper arms. she says it helps her keep her body fit and skinny, so she can be a dancer without doing extra excersise. basically i think she does this to burn double the calories when teaching dance. does this really work?

Your dancing teacher is setting a poor example . That is totally unsafe, all she is doing is perspiring and loosing water weight.
Water weight is temporary weight loss, it comes right back after drinking fluids. Please do not try that as you can become overheated, loose alot of fluids and electrolytes which places a burden on the cardiovascular system. Going to extremes to lose weight is risky business.

No, it's garbage. You lose water weight, and that's it, and it comes back as soon as you drink some water.
She's probably thin because she dances a lot, because that burns calories, and she watches what she eats. The plastic wrap is just nonsense. I'd check her credentials to see if she really knows what she's doing --it sounds like her practices are unwise. If she uses plastic wrap, she might also do stretches that are dangerous or give you bad advice in other ways.

Your dance teacher is an idiot!!! All the Saran wrap will do is temporarily make her sweat excessively and lose some minor water weight, but she cannot benefit from the cooling effect of the sweat due to the wrap. Once again I repeat...she's an idiot!

wrapping your skin with plastic does nothing more than make you sweat.

I can not imagine anything good coming out of wrapping one's skin in plastic.

She's losing water only and can also overheat her body. It's not a good thing to do and she should know better.

Your dance teacher is weird - and an idiot. This would do nothing except maybe make her sweat more from other places.
