I was thinking about something that would include her and the dog, but I don't know what. Does anyone have any suggestions?

O don't worry, I'm definately there for her, and the dog is very very sick with cancer. I just thought I could get her something special that she could look at when the dog is gone and remember him.

Thank you everyone for your special ideas. Right now is one of the hardest times, and she's going to need all the support she can get. I wrote her a letter, and I'm going to have a Christmas Tree ornament made to look like the dog. Thank you all again! I can tell there are people here who know how it feels to lose a loved dog. Thanks again, and Merry Chrsitmas! May you all be blessed with family friends, and of course pets.

Get a picture of her and the dog, and put it in a card. Write however you feel, maybe saying that it is hard but you will be there if she needs you. It really sucks to have your pet put to sleep, but remind her that he will be in a more comfortable place now. Just let her know you are there for her, and that will be enough! (making a card is a really good idea, showing that it comes from the heart)

ps....cloverivy's idea pretty much sums it up!

Get her a set of care bears, she will keep one and the other will go with the little dog. We did this for a friend when she put her dog down and she really loved it. She has her care bear sitting beside his picture. Also another great idea is the poem "Rainbow Bridge" I guess if you haven't heard of the Rainbow Bridge poem I should explain. It talks about little animals in heaven and when we go there, they will be waiting on us at the "Rainbow Bridge" you should be able to find it on the internet, print it on nice paper and put in a beautiful frame.

Make a picture college(Happy Times only) if you can and take the leash of the dog and use it as a border or ring and hang it on the wall

Maybe your friend would like something in remembrance of his/her dog. Think of something as a family gift for the family maybe that would help. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!
A teddy bear would be nice or chocolates. Roses and flowers are always a good way for them to remember.
Again, GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!

All of your previous answers are good, and you could possibly give her a sympathy card. Merry Christmas.

A box of tissues and a friend's shoulder to cry upon. Believe me, this will mean more to her than any material gift.
