Call your local police department talk to someone on call about how to go about filling harassment charges and then asking for a restraining order.
Usually restraining orders are handled through the District Attorney's office unless you file harassment charges first, then when it goes to court you can ask for a restraining order. HTH.

Every state is diffferent, however here in Iowa you have to go down to the court house to file for a no contact order. Then I believe there is a hearing. For now I would change your phone numbers and just ignore him, even if it gets worse, dont give him the time of day and keep all messages he sends you and log when he call or talks to you for your court hearing on the no contact order.

If you feel you are in danger or this person is harassing you, go to the police asap and hire a lawyer to make sure the proper legal paperwork is filed asap. A lawyer who knows what he is doing will give you further advice on how to change your contact information and make it more difficult for someone to track you down. If you feel in danger, this is no laughing matter. If this person has abused you, it is no joke. You should and could also contact a battered persons' shelter. Disclaimer: the above information is not intended as legal advice and I am not attempting or intending to practice law in your jurisdiction.

no, generally first you have to make a harassment complaint. see if the police can resolve it. if he persists, then it will be easier to have a restraining order/order of protection issued. even if u go to court on the first complaint...the judge will probably tell you both grow up and settle it amongst yourselves. there needs to be documentation to go along with the order...and if you contact him while the order is in effect....the order is voided.

it depends on what type of stuff hes saying and how often hes done this in the past year... if he has been threatening you or using strong or crude language and has done this more than twice in the past year, then you can get a lawyer and he/she will help you file for a restraining order
