Personally, I would go for mints and licorice. Both of these things are known to settle your stomach if you're in the car or in the air for long periods of time. If you're flying, I suggest mint gum as it will keep your ears from "popping" while you take off and land.

If you're just looking for the candy that lasts (and not worried about your stomach) I'd stay away from chocolate as it has a bad tendancy to melt. Taffy also can be a bad choice for the same reason.

So, packs (and packs and packs) of gum and hard candies (go brand name if you can, they have the best lasting time). I don't know if they'll last you four months but where ever you're going, might they not have a store if you need more?

1st off I would bring trail mix, because it's like something that would give you some good nutrition, make you feel like you're really eating something, and lasts long.

other ones I would bring is:
Snickers (hungry grab a Snickers)
Flips(chocolate covered pretzels yum, yum ,yum)
fruit snacks (k, so it's not a candy but sweet and nutritious)
almond roca (just 'cause)

i would suggest hard candy like lifesavers or something because chocolate will probably melt and soft candy will stick together
