I assume you're talking about morals. If that's what you mean, then no, not anything would be justified. If someone killed and raped an innocent 5 year old girl, do you really think that the community around them would shrug and think that's ok? No. Chances are the community would either kill that person or send them away without the right to return...which is pretty much what happens now depending on where you are. Society would still exist, with or without God.
I live without God in my life, and I'm a moral person. I don't go breaking laws just because I don't fear punishment in the afterlife. I don't do it because I think it's wrong. I don't need some imaginary figure and imaginary punishment to use common sense.
You can use China as an example. They're no more violent than the United States, and they're an atheist country. Look to the world around you, and you'll see that your statement is pretty silly.

To me God doesn't exist that doesnt mean that I could justify my actions if those actions were considered out of order by my fellow man.
Hitler was a very religious feller, he belived his actions were justified, all the wars that have been fought in the world have been justified by one religious group or another, what difference did God make?
I must conduct a survey on this forum one day and try to find out what percentage of Gods 10 commandments are actually obeyed by people, how many can truthfully answer 100%??? Not many, so what real difference to life does a belief in God make?
Do all these religious folk obey his commandments , no I dont think so .
Just about every thing that is happening in the worl today will be justified by one group or another, with or without religion, my answer is there would be no change to the present situation.

No. People are born with instincts about what is right or wrong.. Hypothetically, if there were no God, do you really think people would go around slaughtering people without knowing that they were doing something bad? In any case, can't anything be justified depending on one's worldview already? What if someone says they kill "in the name of God" or "because God spoke to me"?

Yes, this is a point I have tried to make to people before. If God doesnt exist then how come we all just dont go around having sex with whoever, killing whoever, stealing whatever, and the list goes on and on. If there is no God then who says there has to be morality, if we are a bunch of evolved from ape beings, who work off of chemical reactions then would it not be okay to do that stuff?

No, wrong. We all acquire knowledge of right and wrong. We know that if we don't like what others do, we shouldn't do it either.
The church will tell us to not steal. We know stealing is wrong without the church.
Anyone who walks the straight and narrow because he's afraid of the wrath of God, is not a good person at heart.
There are more strong believers in prison than there are non-believers. Some men sitting in church eye up their neighbors wife. Some are planing on stealing something from their neighbors.
" If God didn't exist " ?? He doesn't.

Yes, who would I answer to?
I would eat, drink, and probably not care as I am just an accident a mere twist of infinitisimal chance. Morals are just made up stuff, who can tell me what is right or wrong. I could take off you if I was stronger because strongest wins. I would have no higher authority but myself.
Thankfully that is not the case. God's word is the absolute law and guide to everything. He is the ultimate authority of what is right and wrong. I owe my existance to God.

I think you are right.
There are those with millions of bucks that are trying to get the laws changed so that drugs are legal.
Judges are saying that they will not sentence a person for child abuse, or sex with a child.
I think the laws would almost disappear in a heartbeat, and it will be up to the individual and what he thinks is right or wrong.
Now, let a situation like that go on for a bit, and soon the people that have been abused will begin to abuse others. Many people that are not religious still act civil because they want others to act civil with them. However if the laws are weakened to the point that we have no restraint on the actions of others, will those who were civil begin to act like the rest of the crowd?

Anything IS justified depending on one's world view. Heard of the Spanish Inquisition? What about 9/11? These (and many, many more) were justified in "God's" name. I don't think God has anything to do with it. It has to do with humans and their ability to screw up anything.

No - you would still have a code of ethics. The Golden Rule makes sense logically. Anything you do to others is all the more likely to be done to you. If I drive down people crossing the street, it makes it all the more likely to happen to me (or something comparatively bad, at least.)
Yes - there will always be people who have no sense of ethics, but that even applies to some God-believers.

I totally agree with you; morals would be an evolving process that change to fit time's circumstances. IF you've ever seen 13 Days (in reference to the Cuban Missile Crisis) I like the quote that says "If the sun comes up tomorrow it is because of men of good will." THe whole safety of America, at one point, was based solely on a couple men who had to make major decisions that would alter this world forever. Luckily they made it out, but I never woul want to be in a situation like that again :)
