For the dry hair, use a really good deep moisturizing conditioner. The added moisture put back into your hair will help to keep it all down. To control it without gel, use a medium strength control hair spray. For styling it, try parting down the side slightly above the ear, right about where your head starts to curve into the top.

I would recomend you straighten your hair and then spray hairspray lightly over your hair. That should help it from poofy and will make it a little longer since your hair is "poofy". Since your hair is very dry, try adding a sometype of natural hair oil to it. And from now on, take good care of your hair, by washing every other day and conditioning a lot.

use a flat iron. or if you don't have one, blow dry your hair on a low setting so you can use a brush to streghten it. try mousse. it is lightweight and might help to make beautiful curls without the puff. also try clipping up the front of your hair if it is long enough.
look luck!
God bless!

Use lots of a good smoothing conditioner. Try blowing your hair dry with a paddle brush.

use a defrizzing serum and blow-dry. You may want to even use a straightener or large barrel curling iron after that.

I would recommend you go back to the stylist who cut your hair, and ask her what products he/she recommends to use for your specific hairtype/style. If you cant afford the salon products, ask your stylist what they recommend over the counter. Good Luck!
