Shouldn't the medical field be absolutely driven to human health issues and nothing else? like political? or legal? or religious?

Yes.

The medical industry and associated businesses are driven by $$$.

That is why universal health insurance is a bad idea. It will result in higher prices all around and less actual coverage.

A system such as is used in the Commonwealth Countries would be much better, but the massive resistance such a system would meet from the medical and insurance industries will make that impossible.

shouldn't political, legal, and religious issues be considered when treating someone. What if a doctor gives life support to someone who's religion forbids it? Is that right? Shouldn't things like that be taken into account with human health?

Yes and it is governed, theoretically, by the Hippocratic Oath. It does seem to be driven by money. But a doctor has to make a living and pay his help and rent as well. In some cases, the overhead is tremendous in private practice.
