How do I open a bottle of wine when something's gone wrong? I must have done something wrong with the corkscrew because the lever/pull isn't budging the cork one bit. What can I do without busting up the cork further?

I've had this problem a time or two.
here's what to do :
Assuming you have the corkscrew in far enough and it doesn't budge. Sometimes the fit between the cork and the neck of the wine bottle is verrry tight and it won't budge no matter what.Run the neck of the bottle under warm-hot water for 1/2 min or so,then twist the corkscrew slightly clockwise & counterclockwise as you pull on the cork. The warm water will expand the glass neck and unglue the cork from the bottle and the twist will aid as well as keeping you from getting spillage.

If the corkscrew isn't centered in the cork, then your gonna get a lil corky and will need to decant with a few coffee filters.Use a pic for opening nuts to pull out pieces of the cork until the screw can pull the rest of it out, then filter.

First off, here's the proper technique for opening wine. Put the corkscrew directly in the center of the cork. Go all the way in until there is only one coil visable. That makes a big difference.
Now, you probably can't get this one open without further damage to the cork. It happens from time to time. If there's too much cork in your wine you can pour it through a coffee filter.

last time I had that problem, we cut the cork, pushing it inside SLOWLY SO IT DON"T SPRAY YOU! and then filtered it out with a coffee filter.

you could try freezing it, and when the wine expands, it will push the cork out.

it could be that sugar from the wine got on the cork, and when ti dried, it is acting like glue....

I've often put the cork back in and saved it a day or three, if it's a good wine, why neck it like a wino under the Manhattan Bridge! :)
