You need to clean the dogs ears out. It may not be mites, a vet would have to look at some of the goop under a microscope and see if there are mites present, then appropriate treatment.

If there are other pets in the home, all pets should be treated, so spreading this back and forth doesn't happen. Usually, dogs only get ear mites if there are cats in close living quarters with them.

Not all ear infections smell. But, to try and make your dog more comfortable until you can get to the vet, clean his ears really good, twice a day with appropriate ear cleaner. To maintain good ear health, clean once a week. If you don't have a cleaner on hand, go to the pet store, generally, the more pricey, the better the product, or go pick some up from your vet (<<< best bet). Your dog will be happy to get some of that crap out of his ear, before it damages his ear canal.

I groomed dogs for 15 years and I used the following solution as a general ear wash for all dogs but it is very affective for ear mites, ear infection and as a general wash to keep the canal clean.

Mix equal parts of apple cider vinegar (healing agent), 70% rubbing alcohol & water (dilutes the mixture). Fill the ear canal and rub the base of the ear and then allow dog to shake his head. With a paper towel clean out the puss & debri
that you can see. Do the same thing with other ear.

This stuff burns like _____ but if you keep rubbing the base it will feel better sooner.

Yes, I have a papillon and she has BIG ears and she has this problem often. Take a Q-tip, and some neosporan if you'd like, first clean it out w/ the Q-Tip then put on a clean Q-tip neosporan, and go over the open areas, it will clear up in a few days, just make sure to do it once a day, at least cleaning it out! Good LUck!

Your vet can give you a liquid to put in its ear. It will clear them up. Go to the vet.
