Sometimes. Where I live there is usually a Catholic cemetery, which is located on or near church grounds. I'm sure there are other churches that do this.

In addition there may be a community cemetery, which would be non-denominational. There are also 'pauper's' cemeteries where just about all are cremated to save money, space, and hassle. There can also be family cemeteries on larger farms for example, though this practice happens less often than it used to.

Cemetaries work by implementing a very scientific process. As discussed by a previous poster, the part of the cemetary you are -actually- buried in depends on weight and height. This goes way back. This is why people are very careful when they go dig up bodies. The fact is, when you go lay flowers down at the cemetary for your loved on, more than likely they aren't even there -- they were moved that day to another part of the cemetary.

I've never heard of burying by size, height, etc (this may be an old tradition, who knows, but it is not done now in your standard run of the mill cemetery)... the cemeteries I've seen (lots, believe me) are laid out in orderly rows and divided into equal-sized plots. Plots are sold, sometimes individually, sometimes multiple ones together (husb, wife, children) and the person that gets put in there stays there... unless you go dig him up...

They can be community (religion doesn't matter at all) or a church might have its own (the Catholics, as was mentioned, often have their own, as do the Amish; other churches do, too and the cemetery is often near the church).

This refers to cemeteries in the US.

Every religion has its own tradition for burial. For Christians is is custom to enter a cemetery with their head uncovered. In Jewish tradition man must enter a cemetery with a cup covered their head. Additionally, some people, like Cohen cannot enter cemetery.

So people are buried according to their religion. There are people without religion or couples with mixed religions who want to be buried together. This issue is solved with state cemeteries where anybody can be entombed freely.

No, they're separated by weight. It's all done by size of coffin, due to that.

Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton get buried in very slim coffins.

John Goodman won't be buried anywhere near them. He has reserved his own ZIP code (okay, it's just a ZIP plus four) in southern California for a burial plot.

No they are separated by the number of the grave in an orderly fashion. When your dead it wont matter what religion you are. A man is just a man what ever his label is he is still just a man. I guess he would be buried where ever his family puts him.
