Josh,
When Christ was here he did establish a church with the 12 apostles. They were murdered, the church fell away becuase the AUTHORITY that christ had given to the apostles and the leaders of the church were gone when they were killed. This AUTHORITY that I speak of is a real power. No man can take it upon himself. It has to come thru Christ and be handed down.

Any rate...that is what is called as the "great apostacy or the dark ages". During that time men began to start up their own churches using as much truths as they could from the church christ had established. However, that AUTHORITY of which I speak was still not here and so man did not have the Holy Ghost as a CONSTANT companion, only as an influence. Difference... THAT is how all these churches came to be.

Now, in the scriptures we are told that the Lord would re astablish his church once again before the second coming. And this happened in the 1800's. This Preisthood has once again been brought to the earth, the saving ordinances and laws of the Gospel are here again and the work is going forth in preperation to his second coming.

This church of which I speak is the only true and living church on the face of the earth that has constant revelation and direction from God and has the Preisthood that you yourself as a son of God are entitled to have to bless your family and the lives of others.

You may see the Elders ( Missionaries) walking by in suits and ties and black name tags for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It is those young men who are in the 19-21 age range that will teach you the gospel and have the real AUTHORITY to baptize you and give you the Holy Ghost as a CONSTANT companion.

Loving God, talking to God, Praising God is a great thing.....and He loves you for it. But he has more for YOU to receive if you are willing to be humble and follow the direction of his spirit and listen to what is real and true.

There are MANY as you are obviously aware, churches out there claiming this that and the other thing. But, there is but ONE GOD , ONE FAITH, ONE BAPTISM. He does NOT recognize these other teachings as churches as HIS OWN. Period..... God is not a God of confusion. He is a God of order and truth.

It is a simple matter of praying and asking Him what I told you and pondering if you should visit the Elders and have them teach you the truth. I am a convert myself of 16 yrs. It changed my life and I finally had answers that I had been having my whole life for. I was not receiving the FULLNESS of the gospel before and somehow my soul knew it.

One can have a general God belief, and not be 'religious'. I'd argue it becomes religion when you're following some structured method of worshiping a deity.

With that said, YES - Christianity is a religion. (I know the question will be raised sooner or later.)

As I am sure others have said before...

Religion is man's attempt to reach out to God. It can never be done.

Jesus Christ is God's hand reaching out to you for reconciliation. It is not a religion but a relationship with the very one who created you and holds everything in its place.

I am a follower of Christ, not a follower of religion.

Remember, there is only one God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The God of the Bible. All religions do not lead to the same God for there is only one.

You don't have to be religious as in belonging to a religious faith to worship God as God Almighty is not restricted to these only. You can be spiritual & believe in God.

"religion" is a man invented concept. Has nothing to do with God. But you can not make up your own way to God. Only those who come to God in TheWay He prescribes will receive His free gift of Salvation and enter Heaven.

Actually religion leads many people to bigotry rather than to God.

You don't need religion to have a close relationship with God.

love and blessings Don
