That is a difficult question, but I believe that Scripture tells us to put aside anything that takes the place of God in our lives - all of our selfish ambitions and desires. We should love God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength, and love our neighbor as ourself.
Most of all we should kill everything that has to deal with our old self. Remember in 2 Corinthians 5:17, we are new creations, the old has passed away, the new has come.
It is not I who lives but Christ who lives within me. I let Him do my housecleaning. I am not smart enough to get rid of everything that gets in the way of my relationship with Him.
