When I worked part time at the vet's. They used Dawn dish soap. because it also kills the fleas if it has any.. but don't bathe it more than a few times a year. Cats aren't like dogs..

i'm confident she'll be fantastic, yet i'd watch her over the subsequent couple days to make confident the shampoo did not dry her pores and skin out too a lot. If she's scratching at herself plenty, then you extremely might want to get to the puppy shop and get her some shampoo and conditioner for cats, basically to get any leftover human shampoo off of her. actually do not make a habit out of creating use of human shampoo on her although. There would nicely be all forms of undesirable outcomes.

Most vets will tell you never to use human products on pets, even shampoo. Cats do not need to be bathed regularly like dogs do, they clean themselves. Unless she got into something particularily sticky or messy, I would skip the bath. Less stress for you and the cat.

If your cat will let you. I use to use a baby shampoo that was diluted to about 1 part shampoo, to 2 parts of water. Came out nice and soft.
"Do not get any in their eyes or ears". Its really bad for them. Cover their entire head when applying the shampoo. Make sure that the cat is rinsed well, with fresh luke-warm water. Dry with a regular towel, and then watch as they quickly dirty themselves again.

not only do cats secrete an oil to keep their fur looking good, It also helps keep them healthy. My vet told me that it acts as an immune system. If you have to wash your cat don't use human shampoo, because it will eat away at the oil and make you cat vulnerable. The pet shampoo is formulated to reduce washing away the oil. Don't wash your cat more than once in 6 months unless necessary.

I would not. Shampoo strips away everything. Cats skin secretes a lot of oils to help keep their coats thick and full. You can get specialty pet shampoo at any pet store for about the same price.

not really because what happens as it drys out the cats skin wakes it really dry and itchy and flaky. or if that doesn't happen than after you bath them and they look all clean and happy they lick them selves and that human shampoo gets into their system and it makes them have dierrah and nausea so i would recommend washing your cat with dawn dish soap

My vet was really angry with me for bathing my cats all the time it gave them dandruff and she said it's not good for them unless they're covered with a toxic substance don't bathe her, but if you insist, the yell dawn dish soap is supposed to be the best thing to use, and don't use much and make sure she gets no drafts. Good luck

I agree with debbie. Other shampoos can be harmful to their eyes and skin. If dawn is safe for the oil spilled animals. It's safe for kitty.
