If your snow pants are of decent quality, you can pretty much wear whatever you want. Sweatpants (or anything made of cotton) are not recommended though because cotton doesn't wick away water like other materials. I also wouldn't suggest jeans because they are not very flexible...although they apparently work for some people.
I wear 100% nylon pants under my snow pants. If it is REALLY cold, then I wear long johns under the nylon pants.
Being a girl doesn't really matter...we all want to stay warm and be comfy!

Since you asked, I'll tell you. I wear jeans. I know it sounds really weird but I feel most comfortable in jeans and they mostly keep me warm. I've just never felt as comfortable in sweatpants or long johns. But sometimes with ski pants they fit a little bit better, it's all what you feel comfortable with.

I wear nylon leggings. They are actually quite fashionable now, so it's not to hard to pop over to AE or somewhere similar to find a good pair. I like the kinds without feet, because I have very picky sock issues. But just having an extra layer is fabulous for reducing early morning chill.

just don't wear any jeans or cotton. if they get wet on a cold day, they'll be wet for the rest of the day and you'll be cold and miserable. if you're just at a resort, wear basically anything you want that's polyester or wool. i usually wear my long johns and pajama pants. but if you're going heli-skiing or anything like that, i'd use under armor or thermawool.

good question. You always want to layer snowboarding clothes for warmth. Never wear just snowpants to prevent chaffing and/or general cold. I wear these long underwear (Hot Chilly's is the brand name) and they wick moisture as well as trap heat. They're like Under Armor, only better because they don't breathe as well and keep in heat. On top of the base layer, I normally wear wool or cotton long johns, but they're looser fitting. Anything will do, sweatpants, pajama pants or whatever. then, the snowpants and you should be good to go, warm and dry.
ps. sounds like I'm overdoing it...but trust me, its one of the most important things to stay warm

There are these things called longjohns/long underwear and its not really underwear they just cover your legs and help keep you warm. You can find them at a skiing store and maybe target. They have many kinds and they are easy to find.

I dress in layers, under my gore-tex pants I have a layer of poly (top and bottoms). If its real cold I will wear a layer of fleece between the poly and outer garment.
