it is a simple formula. (Length x width)x depth. this gives you the cubic feet. there are 7.5 gallons per cubic foot. I am 90 percent sure this is right. It has been a while since college, but I am almost positive this is right. A pool 10 foot by 4 foot that is 3 foot deep holds... 10x4= 40, 40x3=102 120x7.5= 900 gallons. I hope this helps.

10 gallons. If you convert inches to feet then multiply length x depth x height x 7.5 this will give you the number of gallons in an aquarium. L x D x H give you the cubic feet of the area and there are 7.5 gallons per cubic foot.

Length (centimeters) X Width (centimeters) X Depth (centimeters) = volume (centimeter cube or cc)
1000 cc = 1 liter
3.79 liters = 1 gallon
So Volume (cc) divived by 3.79 = volume in gallons

First calculate the volume using V = lwh.....assuming you're doing this in feet, gives you cubic feet
one cubic foot = 1728 cubic inches = (1728/231) gallons = 7.48 gallons

you just need to convert some sort of cubic measure into gallons. Here's a good site that does conversions:
