That's 10,000 (yes 10 Thousand) times the computing power of a 1981 Cray super computer (100 Megaflops)

It depends upon what you mean by Virtual Reality. If you mean jacking in, like in The Matrix, it will be a VERY long time. We do not yet have good ways of making electronics communicate with our brains and bodies. Several advances would need to be made in biotechnology before this would be possible.

If you mean people living in virtual worlds, this is already happening today with various online games. Second Life is a good example, and it is totally free. Stories have come out across the globe of people neglecting their "real" lives in favor of lives lived out in virtual worlds.
