You probably got a pet quality Lab. Not a show dog. Back yard breeders don't pay much attention to the breed standards and a lot of the time recessive genes pop in and that is probably why your pup has the white hairs. Then again he may grow out of them.
If you were to check out the standards yourself and read about the where they come from, what was their purpose, what ailments that that specific is predispose for and watch out for it, learn all about him.
You'll love him regardless of his white hairs. Right?

Yes, it will get a nice white patch on its chest which may run all
the way up its neck and under its chin as it becomes an adult.
I have a large male Black lab...

It is completely normal not to have a "perfect" black coat or a coat of any other color as well. I would be willing to bet that you would find at least one off color hair on nearly every animal you come into contact with.

I have an 11 year old chocolate lab and he's always had those white hairs. He's a purebred too. It'll be fine.

Is he a purebred? Because I have a black with Rottweiler and German Shepperd mix and he has a big white spot on chest. I think German Shepperd's have that trait.

puppy is fine, but it is an indication it is not purebred black lab or even purebred lab.....despair not as often the best ones for home, hunting, or etc. are not purebred.....if you are planning on showing him then you should be concerned
