I went out with this nurse (she works in hospital operating room) in mid August and had unprotected sex. First my feet are feeling cold since then and few wks later not sure how many maybe 6 wks later I had an episode of loose stool (only once a day) for few wks, no fever or any thing else. I am wondering is there a good chance that I was exposed to some sort of virus. And is there any link between cold feet and HIV and I had loose stool not diarrhea. Please advice

You sound like you are letting your fears get the best of you.

Get an HIV test and put your anxiety to rest. The chances of contracting an STD from this woman is unlikely. Statistically, HIV is only transmitted 2% of the time even with direct exposure. That is very very rare. Also the virus lives in the air for only 2 minutes. You have not caught HIV from her....really.

But unprotected sex is a problem. And it is possible that you are having another health problem. Cold feet are not a sign of a virus infection. (maybe anxiety...or maybe just a change in the weather). As for the loose stools. Again, it could be anxiety or maybe some bad food.

Either way, I suspect you have learned not to have unprotected sex. Just stop by your doctor and get a couple of simple tests. Check for clymidia or gonorrhea...and maybe HIV for your own sake...

But don't get all paranoid. Nurses do not just walk around with STDS. But they should be having unprotected sex either.

It's doubtful that you have cold feet due to HIV. What is the temperature outside? This may have something to do with it. If not, then if it persists, see your doctor. A simple blood test can show whether or not you are low on iron. Iron defiency can cause a person to feel cold. As far as the loose stool goes, you may have a little virus, or this could also be caused by stress, (like worrying about having cold feet) or something you are eating isn't agreeing with you. Again, if this symptom persists, call your doctor. It's probably nothing at all to worry about though.

No link with the cold feet, but maybe with the diarrhea! It would nt be linked to HIV, but she might have some other kind of virus since she works at a hospital

Thats what you get for having unprotected sex. As a nurse, I guarantee we are more clean than the average person you pick up in a club. We are aware of diseases to be picked up and wash the hell out of our hands. Hand sanitizer is our friend. On the other hand, if she had unprotected sex and knowing full well on what she can get, then she is an idiot! Go see a doctor!

I think more info is needed. First were you bending over to cover up your cold feet when you got the loose stool?

Well, you may just have a non-sexual virus. But since Hepatitis B messes with your liver, it tends to create loose stools, so go get checked...Also have you recently gotten a tattoo? I have a friend who got Hep B from a tattoo place that was using dirty needles...

I am surprised this nurse had unprotected sex. You should go to the doctor and request an HIV test and tell the doc your symptoms. I hope everything is ok.
