I am answering this question as a Christian who has read the Quran. I hope this is a serious question and u want a serious answer.
Mohamed went into a cave and supposedly had the quran taught to him by the angel Gabriel. this is what was revealed.
1) Mohamed is the true prophet and Allah is God.
2) it is every Muslim duty to convert the kafir(unbeliever) if they do not convert they are given two choice 1) be a third class citizen under sharia(islam) law or 2)death
3) Jesus was a prophet only and He was not crucified but another was crucified in His place
4) all Jews are descended from pigs and dogs(both of which are unclean according to Muslims)
5) also the 12th Imam after Mohamed(think pope) fell down a well and only when Islam is under heavy attack he will return to lead Islam into world domination
i could fill many pages but you get the idea. i suggest reading the Quran for yourself so you really know what it says. Not very good reading like reading King James version of the Bible but very informative
also a good movie(Islamic) about the origins of Islam "the message" is in the link below

Islam was created by the prophet Mohammed in about 650 AD in the city of Medina in the Middle east, and is based on the same concepts and honors the same God as the Bible, but says that Muslims said to be basically a replacement for the Jews, or as they call it in Sura, the ones the Scriptures were given to, since they basically rebuked the teachings and diety of Jesus. Islam's Koran teaches very basic fundamentals like the 2nd class citizenship of women, and the need for Holy War (Jihad) against those who oppose or do not convert to Islam. In many ways similar to the Bible, in some ways different. Islam does not preach hate, however, it's just the terrorists create thier own reality and fabricate and distort the Koran, though Mohammed himself was a conqueror.... so that is often refered to to 'justify' Jihad.

>Quran Sura 5:38: Cut off the hands of thieves, whether they are male or female, as punishment for what they have done—a deterrent from God: God is almighty and wise.
>Quran Sura 5:51: O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends...
>Quran Sura 47:4: Therefore, when ye meet the Unbelievers (in fight), smite at their necks...
>Quran Sura 5:33: "Those who make war with Allah and his messenger will be killed or crucified, or have their hands and feet on alternate sides cut off....

Vile, Inhumane, hateful jargon is what Islam teaches...

Islam means peace

There is approx 1.6 billion Muslims in the world and if all Muslims are terrorists then why isn’t 1.6 billion Muslims bombing the world right now? Islam is the fastest growing religion it has been predicted in 50 years Islam will be the worlds largest religion. So if Islam teaches violence and evil then why would 1.6 billion Muslim and those who have reverted to Islam want that?

Surely everyone who thinks Islam is bad has been affected by the mass media watch this clip (46 mins) contradicts this and you will realise what Islam really is this clip is about:

Muslim only for 30 days
Guy becomes Muslim for only 30 days to experience the in-depth of Islam.

Islam is not only a religion but a complete way of life; we can gain answers either from the Quran or the Hadith (ways of the Prophet Muhammad pbuh). As a practicing Muslim I do believe Islam and its teachings answer all my questions. Muslim nowadays are weak they don’t know much about their religion my suggestion is to any one is that read the Holy book of that religion before criticising it. 70% of the Quran has been proven by science. Also we believe in Judgment Day and the Quran describes in detail what the day will be like and also the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) also states minor and major signs (one minor sign we see today is that Time will go faster) you can view the major and minor signs on: http://www.islaam.com/Article.aspx?id=450

Islam has 5 fundamental Pillars which are
SHAHADAH-Declaration of faith
SALAH-Prayer which is the 5 daily prayers (helps us both mentally and physically)
SIYAM-Fasting during month of Ramadhan (Allows us to emphasis people in the poor world, also increases self control and makes us better people in society from decreasing sins to its minimum)
ZAKAT-paying 2.5% of your earnings to charity every year
HAJJ-Pilgrimage to Mekkah (Mecca)

The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was born in 670 C.E he came to change the world as it was corrupt at the time. At the time of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) it was known as Jahiliyya (Days of ignorance). Muhammad (pbuh) was the last of Prophets sent to complete the biggest task. He was the Prophet who brought the Quran into our lives; The Quran is the final words from Allah. There has been according to one Hadith 240 000 Prophets, and Muhammad (pbuh) was the last.

you want to know all of them? basically there are 5 pillars of islam and if you do these 5 things you are a muslim.
1. believe in the kalma that says there is no God but Allah and Muhammad (pbuh) is his messenger
2. salat (prayer)
3. Zakat (giving to the poor)
4. fasting (in Ramadan)
5. Pilgrammage to Mecca (Hajj)

other than that
do not attack anyone unless they attack you
and when you do attack do not do anything more than they did to you
and if they want to stop you have to forgive them because forgiveness is a big thing in Islam. if you cannot forgive another man why should God forgive you.
i can give you quotes from the Quran saying these things.

for all those people who say that murder and rape are allowed in Islam give some support instead of empty claims

" islam is a total submission to the will of Allah"

We believe in Allah,All angels, All books, All prophets ,Doomsday, and we belive that everything is from Allah whether its good or bad and life after death

these are our basic belives and there are numbers of other teachings that we follow but surely its not violance , hatred and all that bla bla..

Islam is a religon of peace without any doubt contrary to the few of the answers above.
