most of the illegals are latino be default NOT by any racist immigration laws, do they think we let white people have citizenship this country more easily NOT A CHANCE They seem to clump illegal aliens and legal hispanic immigrants into one category,,just with different immigration statuses

illegal alien is not an immigration status,, it's a federal offense
somebody on a student visa has a immigration status, somebody with dual citizenship does,,a migrant worker does also,,but not an illegal alien,,,they were always a criminal never an immigrant

all the hispanic newspapers will say hispanic immigrants are being discriminated against in the workplace by these ICE raids, NO IT'S ILLEGAL ALIENS, no immigrant was ever detained
why do they think they are being discriminated against,, this is so ridiculous

SOMETIMES I WISH the illegals were all from russia so they couldn't pull the race card and divert the issue

I think it is a race issue I visited mexico a couple years ago with an aunt and cousin. I am very much so lighter than both and to some look like I could be hispanicwhen we crossed into the country there was no problem but upon leaving I was the only one asked for identification. At the time it was a funny because I am always teased by my family for my appereance but with everyhting happening now what if I had accidently left my id and they didn't believe I was an american citizen. alot of what if can be said on that.

They are not claiming that it is racist, they are claiming the focus on illegal hispanics is racist. This country has TWO land borders. The focus is on the border which Hispanic people cross. The Canadian Border is loosley guarded and yet, its well known that it is the border that most terrorists enter by. Hispanic people, even citizens are always under suspicion. Puerto Rican Citizens DO NOT need a passport yet are often questioned. I had students who were held in Mexico and not allowed to enter the US after visiting relatives in Mexico because their parents were not aware they would need photo ID, that both parents Drivers licenses were not good enough. They were all American Citizens, any other white or black citizen with a valid drivers license is allowed to come and go across that border.

The reality is that the largest threat to our country is not the illegal immigrant who wants to work doing labor that we can not get citizens to do, it is the drug trafficing across that border and the threat of terrorism. The working illegal immigrant rarely takes a job from an American who is willing to do that job in a scrupulous work place. Look at the employers who hire them at sub minimum pay - if we crack down on them, it would be the end of the problem. If there were NO work unless you had verification that you were here legally, they would not come illegally.

You have to admit that the focus has been on Hispanic immigrants and illegal immigrants. Just as our country stereotypes other ethnic groups with racist remarks, Hispanics have born the brunt of being called illegal etc.

Since when is it a crime to improve your situation or give a better life to your family, try living in squall-er and dust for a few years and you will understand why people try to come here, the immigration laws need to be updated.

I filed correctly, I have an American father American cousins, Grand parents etc, just because I did not file before my visitors visa expired I now have to wait 10-17 years outside the country if I want a a green card unless their is an amnesty.

Its rules like above that make people come here break rules and stay illegally, the alternative is a never ending un reasonable length of time waiting in a place you are not happy.

P.S I am white, pay taxes, and create jobs

Well funny, cause they are PLENTY of illegal Russian and Asians, but no one targets them AT ALL. Not even a little. Yes, the majority are Latinos, but they are still millions from Asia, China, the Middle East, etc..... I hear Filipinos and Chinese talking loudly in their language all the time, but no one ever says let's anything about that. That's why Latinos think this anti-illegal immigration movement is racist, because many Republican politicians and t.v. personalities like Lou Dobbs tried to make a name for themselves by targeting only Latinos, since they know there still are plenty of racists out there, and they might become famous. Of course, no one really listened cause most of the anti-illegal Republicans were voted out of office, yeah!!!!

SO true - I am for illegal immigration - not this "UNDOCUMENTED WORKER Bull - if you are here illegally you are choosing to break the law today and you are okay with it as a result and it goes on as then you choose not to have a driver's lic and no insurance and no registration - so Your choosing to break more laws - and we want to give these people a chance to be a citizen because hey they are hard working - I don't want someone who chooses when a law is okay to break to his benefit in this country as then they might refuse to stop at stop signs next - because they want to .....and they have gotten away with the previous law breaking. Then when they hit you they don't have to pay anything because they don't have insurance and you get caught holding the bag for the related costs involved......and just because you are obeying the law.

You're right. It's called playing the race card, and they'll do it every time, but you know what, I don't care anymore. If not wanting the greasy suckers coming over, breaking our laws, and sovernty is "racist" then SO BE IT. We are going to have to stop letting these people intimidate us, and push us around. I tell you what, I want them to know that I can't stand them, and when in the grocery store, or Wal-Mart, I run their fat asses over with my shopping cart, because most will stand there like a heard of dumb cows, knowing you need to get by. These people don't respect us. They're over here for the free ride, and gravy.

I dont think ICE does this to be racist. But there is a reason hispanics think this is racist, because many ppl out there use this excuse to show there racist sides. thats a fact. Not all americans are racist but some use this topic to show it. Just look at the other threads on other subjects on yahoo answers and u see its not about politics or the well being of USA but another excuse to show their ugly side.

You gotta understand that not all Latino's support illegal immigration. I'm a latino and i support secure borders and enforcement of immigration laws. ppl seem to think that just because someone is latino that automaticcally support illegal immigration when that is not case.

Possibly because whites are still the majority in this country and they think (and are being religiously taught) that they are ALL racist from conception. That sounds like racism to me. I don't think they understand the meaning of the word. But they do know how to use it to abuse others and get whatever they want.

2006-12-23 04:40:37 · answer #10 · answered by DJ 6 · 0 3

Because Latinos disproportionately broke the laws and therefore are disproportionately hit by enforcement.

However, that isn't racism.
