Some people use Scripture to justify homosexuality, and other people use Scripture to condemn homosexuality.

Obviously the Bible does not support both of these viewpoints (because then Scripture would be contradicting itself), so which view is accurate.

The group http://www.exodus-international.org/ which helps those seeking freedom from homosexuality says yes it is a sin, while other groups like www.gaychristians.org say homosexuality is okay and scripture supports it.

So who is telling the truth?

Bigots always say that it is, but I hardly ever agree with anything that Bigots say so I don't know why I would agree with them about this.

First of all, there's no such thing as "freedom from homosexuality". There have been studies done on this. Not only can homosexuality NOT be "cured", but studies show that homosexuals who try to "cure" themselves usually end up severely depressed or addicted to prescription drugs or even worse, they commit suicide. NOT GOOD.

Second, homosexuality is condemned in the Old Testament, but in the New Testament, Jesus never ONCE condemns it. So it was really some dude some time in history that condemned it. It's irrelevant. The same guy also condemns eating shellfish and wearing clothes of different material, and people do those things all the time now. Why? Because they believe it's alright, since Jesus died for those so-called sins they are committing. The same applies for homosexuality.

That is the biblical explanation. Now my own opinion is that homosexuality is biological, that it's not a disease, that it's just something some people are born with, just like some people are born left-handed. It doesn't make them bad people. They're really not any different than the rest of us.

It is only a sin to those who are not open to how the world actually works. And, it may very well condemn and justify homosexuality in the scripture. Ever read the bible? Talk about contradictions.

First I want to emphasise that sin is sin. God love us all unconditionally and doesn't see one sin as worse than any other. It doesn't matter if you tell a white lie or if you've commited murder. We all have sin in our hearts and that's why we all need Jesus. God says that once we ask for forgiveness our sins are as far removed as the east is from the west. Homosexuality is no different. God loves us all the same.

Bible based Truth seeking chruches will call homosexuality a sin. It's the "new age" type churches that are ok with it. The bible warns about not getting caught up into the new age stuff. It is deceived. If this doesn't answer your question, read scripture for youself. The bible says:

9Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
1Cor 6 9-10

That's why Jesus came. In the old testiment the consequences for sin were death (hell) People had to sacrifice animals to have their sins forgiven. Jesus came as the ultimate sacrifice, so animal sacrifices aren't necessary anymore.

The important thing to remember is that sin is sin, and homosexuality is no different. God loves us all, and can deliver us all from our sin if we let him.

Scriptures contradicts itself thousands of times. It tells reader about things that today we know to be wrong.
It tells its followers to kill for many reasons, like if a neighbour is working on the Sabbath. It belittles women. So why would I, or anybody else with half a brain and just a tiny little bit of common sense take anything written in the scriptures for anything but a bad story about a very bad, ruthless god.

Well, regardless of what some may want the Scriptures to say, it definitely says this: Lev 18:22 "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination." And Rev 21:27 says this: "And there shall in no wise enter into it (New Jerusalem, the city of God) any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb;s book of life."

...See this passage in the Bible, and you decide. We read this in 1 Corinthians 6:
...9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals,
...10 nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.
...11 Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.
...There is hope, since sin can be forgiven and defeated if one trusts in the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior.
...2 Corinthians 5:17, "There is anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; old things have passed away, behold, new things have come.
...If anyone comes to Christ, there is new life and power to live the life that God requires. Exodus-international is correct.

Scripture is going to say whatever the individual person wants to make it say to fit their agenda, unfortunately, instead of people reading it in the spirit and time in which it was written. Literalists like to pick and choose what they're going to interpret literally and ignore challenges to the opposite, so there's really not much discussion about it. Either way, I can't imagine anybody calling themselves a Christian and being a "hater" as bad as many so-called Christians are for ANY reason, but they do.

There are also so-called Buddhists who cut and paste texts, stories and teachings from the realm of Buddhism to fit their own agenda in various strange sects of new-agey Buddhism too. It's not just a Christian thing, it's a warped-human-mind thing.

The Catholic Church believes there is nothing sinful about being homosexual. But homosexuals like all unmarried people are called to celibacy.

The Church specifically says that homosexuals "must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided."

With love in Christ.

The Bible says, "For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet." (Romans 1:26-27, KJV)

In the Law of Moses, the word of God instructed, "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination." (Leviticus 18:22, KJV) (See also Leviticus 20:13)

Again the New Testament says, "Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor HOMOSEXUALS, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God. (1 Corinthians 6:9-11, NASB)

This is how the Bible answers your question.

Forget scripture. Sexual orientation of any kind is not a sin. Ignore the religious bigots, they are quoting Paul not Jesus. The bible has no more to do with God than Green Eggs and Ham.
