Create a balance between your time for your friends and your family. If you hang out with your friends all the time at school, make sure to have some time for your family afterwards or during weekends.

I think you should have a balance. In some cases friends are closer to some than family. However, family ties are important. Especially if you have a family (kids/spouse) of your own. Kids need to know where they came from and who the other family members are. IF you are single, family may not seem as important at the time. However, the day may come when family members are ill/die and you may regret not spending enough time with them. Don't let this happen. Death is final and you can't get the time back. I think you should spend quality time with both friends and family.

Do major things with your family, I think the friends thing should be secondary to your family, I' an adult so this may sound old but you will probably leave when your 18 to go to college or some kind of school and that will be the end of the family life except on special occasions. You will always have time for your friends but its very important to be LOYAL to your family. (I Hope this is not to grown up for you) Merry Christmas

There is always time for friends, spend enough quality time with your family, even if it is a pain in the glass. Some day one of them might pass on, you don't need to find the answer to this question then.
