When blind people sleep, they close their eyes just like everyone else. Closing our eyes is a way to relax out minds and bodies and prepare ourselves for sleep. It doesn't matter if you have perfect vision or not. In fact, most people who are blind have some sort of vision. It may be shapes and colors or forms, but it is not refined enough to allow them to read printed words or recognize facial features. Even this distorted form of sight can distract a person and prevent them from sleeping just as much as typical sight can distract a person without a visual impairment.

PS...If you sleep in the dark, you close your eyes too...and when the lights are out, YOU can't see anything either.
