My father is 82 has not got long to go and wants to leave his body to medical science. However none of the family knows how to go about seeking if he can or if medical science wants his body.
I know that it's a long shot, but can anyone help?
No idiots please, it's hard enough dealing with all of this as it is without idiots

You have to contact the local medical school for a donation form. The request to donate must be in writing, so it is good that you are organising this now rather than when it is too late.

The Human Tissue Authority has a good website with basic information and FAQs on how to go about donating a body. I've put their link below.

Bravo to your father for his generous decision.

I am so sorry for what you all must be going through right now...I think it is marvellous that you want to honour your Dad's wishes.

I've just had a quick look - this page, I am afraid, does not refer to Edinburgh, but it may be somewhere to start?

May peace be with you all at this very difficult time x

(edit - I have just found this page which is more general, and may be of more use:)

I know that this is very difficult for you and your family right now. I suggest that you call a local hospital and ask them what the procedure is. Most hospitals will take care of this once you make arrangements.

Sorry to hear your sad news. If you talk to a senior doctor who is managing your fathers care they will tell you what to do and give you and your father the paperwork to complete;
