If your grandparents are British, it would only entitle you to an ancestory visa. If you stay in the UK long enough after that, then you can apply to be a citizen in your own right.

British Citizenship is passed on via the MOTHER's side of the family. If either of your mother's parents were British citizens, you are entitled to british citizenship, but you really should have this registered shortly after you are born - if you apply later in life they can get a bit more picky.
Please Note that there is a huge difference between a citizen and a subject. A subject is a native of a colony or Crown Protectorate - basically the old empire e.g. Australia, India etc BUT those are independent countries now - their citizens are not subjects. Subjects do not have right of abode in the UK. There are very few Crown protectorates left these days.

I have grandparents who were subjects of the Ottoman Sultan and the Russian Tsar; but they fought in British uniforms in the First world war and were granted citizenship as a mere formality by a personal friend who just happened to be the Home Secretary at the time. Some bloke called Churchill. Now, I'm so British I make the Irish cringe at thirty paces.

If your grandparents were British you can apply for a dual citizenship. However you parent(s) have to have a dual citizenship first. It only works for three generations so if your parents do not have full British citizenships your children cannot get a dual citizenship.

I believe that you may be a British Citizen. In the US you are a citizen if you are born here or are born to parents who are citizens but you were born outside of the US.

some use the word British subjects to suit. if this government were not so stupid and people who come to this country were treated like the British are treated abroad you would not mention the word British. the Chinese are taught one English phrase and that's £4.50 please

Nope.....try again!!

You could always become a cleaner for a politician and then have an affair with him (or her???). They could then bypass the system for you and get the Home Office to fiddle the system.

That wouldn't be a first...would it?
