Thechnically a felon is one who has been convicted of a felony. Which is a more significant crime than a misdemeanor. Could also be applied to a person who is know to have commited a felony even if they are not yet convicted, expecially by acquantances.

Usage:
Jesus, sentenced to death, was wrongly convicted a felon.

A felony, in many common law legal systems, is the term for a "very serious" crime; misdemeanors are considered to be less serious. Crimes which are commonly considered to be felonies include: aggravated assault, arson, burglary, murder, and rape. Those who are convicted of a felony are known as felons.

It means you've been convicted of a felony. Which in the world of offenses is the super bad kind. There's the district court misdemeanors, which is like traffic violations. That sucks, but it's not going to ruin your life.

Then you have misdemeanor, district courts...like first offense breaking and entering and stuff. Those suck pretty bad, but then you have Circuit Court. Felonies are like second time breaking and entering, or three strikes (three misdemeanors equal a felony). Those are the better felonies.

Then theres the violent felonies. Murder, attempted murder, drug charges...that sort of thing.

when someone is calling you a felon, joking around...they are saying you're a troublemaker. If you continuously commit a crime that is a misdemeanor, that can also be a felony.

Hello Jennifer. It is always helpful to know what state you are referring to with legal charges or what is being read, but in Ohio, that would mean a person has been indicted on a felony charge but has not yet gone to trial for the listed charge. I hope this helps you and you can find it useful

It means you have been convicted of a serious crime called a "felony". There are also smaller crimes with less harsh punishments called misdemeanors. Felons are people who commit crimes with more serious punishment.
