Saving energy is always good, but people are naieve if they think at the rate of our population growth that any of these things will slow down or halt global warming. Still a good practice though, don't stop doing it. I'm a little annoyed that those of you proclaiming your love for the environment would use up resources to traipse about the internet asking and answering questions, though.

Global warming is a huge problem and something needs to be done. You are a very good person for trying to help and you should continue to conserve energy, but you don't need to drastically cut off the electricity to your house. If everyone just did a little to conserve , things would get better(or not get worse)

My name is Rafael Lomena. I write from Alicante (Spain). I am independent investigator on the Accelerated Global Heating and want to share with all something that can turn out from interest to fight this phenomenon.
I believe that the main cause of the Accelerated Global Heating is in the great and increasing forest fires that are whipping to the planet in the last years.
My complete report is in: http://inicia.es/de/rlv/clim.htm...
If they do not understand the Spanish they can use the automatic translator that will find in the main page of site:

Thanks to all.

The real question is, why do you? Is it what Al Gore said? He is a proven liar. Is it what James Hansen said? He is a proven liar. Is it what Michael Mann said? He is a proven liar. Why are you so worried about something proven liars are spreading? That shows weak moral character. Your friends and family apparently love you very much, so why throw them under the buss for a bunch of liars? You are an very good example of the psychological damage these low lives are reaping upon the public. This is by design. Quotes by H.L. Mencken, famous columnist: "The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed — and hence clamorous to be led to safety — by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." And, "The urge to save humanity is almost always only a false face for the urge to rule it." These people and their ilk should be charged with providing mental cruelty. Furthermore, our government should be protecting us from these false terrors and yet they are participators in it using our tax dollars.

Global warming is being coused by the hole growing larger in the O-zone layer which makes the poles melt. I don't see how turning your lights on and off will help that. Plus it's only going up like 1 degree every year or every couple of years, don't remember which. But still, we don't have much to worry about right now so go ahead and let your guests have light.

Are you kidding me??
Have you ever looked at Venus's pic?If you have then you saw our Earth's future. Unless there is a miracle and something stops all of us from using bad stuff.
People think vereything is fine! But no!!! They don't see the problem that is right in front of them. Hundreds of people are getting killed because of breathing problems. The planet is almost useless now! Whaty do we do after all of this is gone??
So many people are trying to stop it! why can't anybody listen to them.
I think you are one of them...And thankyou for your support! Even one person can make a huge diffrenece! You should start some kind of thing to show how important it is to stop global warming!

Yes, it is.
Here are some ideas and facts for reducing your emissions:
If every US household replaced one normal light bulb with an energy star bulb, the change in emissions would be so big that it would be like deleting 1000000 cars.
Paper bags aren’t much better than plastic for nature. Bring your own bag and reuse old ones.
Recycle.

Our global warming problem is not that serious, but do what you can to conserve energy. Buy those fancy energy saver bulbs, they last longer and use less power.

Man made global warming is a myth and is becoming known as one.
However, the idea of saving energy is a good one, not because of the boogie man of global warming, but because it decreases our need for oil and conserves our resources.
