Me too, when I was 40.
I'm not sure about others though. I'm not sure we are all here to work on the exact same things.
Love and blessings Don

No. Any crazy person could claim such a revelation, and he might even have followers after a couple hundred years. How would you know if he was relating a genuine mystical experience, or just making use of a powerful imagination?
A legitimate source of truth is the scientific method, which requires observation and experimentation.
In response to additional details: If I walk off a cliff, any interested person can find my corpse at the bottom to corroborate your story. Personal experience is not enough for any intellectually rigorous person. It must be corroborated with outside evidence, such as my corpse.
If you are unable to find my corpse, then I would say it would be intellectually dishonest to say the truth was that I fell off a cliff, because, in this situation, it is impossible to discern the truth. You may be lying, or telling the truth, but there is no definite way to tell.

It was for me. Leading me from agnostic to gnostic, it ultimately brought me to the truth of Christianity. I could still regard myself as a Christian Mystic, since it was the end result, the final path I took to get here. I would be more correct now to label myself as a Christian. Through Christ, I found God to be alive, an interactive and dynamic force within our lives. This, to me, is the absolute truth. Jesus IS the way, truth, and life.

Don't be a bozo, the reason it's called absolute truth is because it is the same for every one any time for all time no matter what, no exceptions.
Just because you don't believe or not want to believe the Truth does not make it not true.

Mysticism. What does this word imply, or rather what does it actually mean? It simply means pursuing a spiritual relationship w/ God. Many from years past have been persecuted for their belief that they could have their own relationship w/ God and live in His presence on a daily basis. This is why, I believe, such a taboo has been linked w/ the word "mysticism." Some famous Christian mystics for example: Madame Jeanne Guyon (her writings are simply awesome, a worthy read... she was persecuted for her "mystic" beliefs.), Fenelon. There are others.
mystic just means spiritual.
It's based on experience. Experiences that can grow our faith.
:)
Be Blessed.

Only for the Gnostic like you and me. Personal experience of Truth is more convincing than any book.

It points toward a path of truth, secret knowledge, wisdom, and power. If you are to enter the realm of Mysticism, cowards and weaklings of the faith can lose there souls.

Truth is not absolute, because it is not shared by all people, whats good for one person may turn another one off.

It is what you believe. That is not the same as truth in a physical sense.
