What about ham, prime rib, or turkey? This year we're having prime rib though. Look up some recipes online, you'll get plenty of great ideas. Merry Christmas.

Whatever you make you should shape it like little baby Jesuses. Better yet, boycott Christmas because it is destroying the environment. How did a holiday about killing turkeys, cutting down trees, commercialism and creating so much garbage become so popular? If you really believe Christmas is good you should fast in contrast to the widespread gluttony of this horrid day.

This is what I am having:
Tangy apricot ham (gently score a 5lb bone in ham with a diamond shaped design. Mix 1/2 c. apricot preserves with 2tbsp mustard powder. Spread onto ham. Then pat the ham with light brown sugar. Bake. Baste often).
Baked garlic asparagus
Carrots with cranberries (use some orange juice when cooking)
sausage stuffing
garden salad
for appetizers there will be crab dip and a veggie platter served with hummus and baked pita chips.

normally I go traditional and have turkey or ham and the usual accompaniments, but I grow tired of all that work on what should be a day of fun, so this year I am doing a meat and cheese tray and some various easy to fix appetizers, such as bacon wrapped water chestnuts, sliced rope sausage with a pretzel stick handle, deviled eggs, that type of thing. Easy stuff.

This year we're having lasagna, garlic bread and salad. It's nice because you can prepare ahead of time and toss in the oven 1-1 1/2 hours before you want to eat.
