You can get a mat that goes at the end of the litter box so when the cats step out of the box onto the mat it catches the litter on their feet so they don't track it through the house. Pets stores and walmart sell them. Their like $10 very inexpensive.

Change the type of litter, put the litter box in an area that the cat has to stop tracking when it comes out. Teach the cat to use a toilet and flush it. It can be done.

My cat used to do this too. Something about the texture of it turned her off, but I didn't want dirty litter tracked through the house. A friend suggested trying to position the box and the mat so that she cannot avoid it when she gets out, and it worked! Although it wasn't as hard for me to manipulate because her's is a covered box. Try using big boxes or whatever you have available, moving them around to create a "walkway" that she wouldn't be able to avoid. Good luck! Oh, and if you use clay litter, you might want to switch. I use Feline Pine and this stuff tracks waaayyy less than clay litter. Plus it's much healthier for kitty. If you decide to switch, just follow the directions on the bag and you'll be good to go!

I use shredded paper and it is wonderful. There is no mess on the floor at all. My cat likes it alot better than litter, too. I save alotmoney. The only hitch is that you have to change it everyday, but I'm telling you, it;s worth it.

There are mats u can put infront of the liter box all u need to do is teach them to scratch on it after they leave the box. My cats actually think its a toy for them. But it does the job. If you need a motivation for ur cat to scratch after using the box put catnip on the mat.

Try getting a small piece of carpet and place it in front of the litter box so when they step out the carpet will help shake it loose from their paws. Then you can just pick up the piece of carpet and dump it back in the box.

I put down one of those carpet mats infront of the box. and under it I put a large plastic bag. It helps. They get most of it off their feet on the mat. They are only a couple bucks. You can get them at a carpet store or sometimes at Menards. Or just put down an old rug that you have. Rough in texture so it wipes their feet.
