She obviously hasn't met the right Star Trek fans, LOL!
Oh, c'mon, the Klingon contingent are just WILD! I'm a Star Trek fan and I'd gladly date another Trekker. Pon far, anyone? Only let's not wait 7years to do it again, OK?
Or a little "par mach?" You bring the batliffs and I'll bring the bandages.
She's a moron. Look for a smarter woman, a Star Trek fan!

Being a Trekkie is not a plus point in dating! In a way it's a good test for potential partners, if they immediately recoil at a mention of Trek, they're probably going to be a bit narrow minded and intolerant. On the other hand, being a fan of Trek is not something I would tell someone on a first date, or even a fifth date! Probably best to keep it a secret till you get to know the person better. Maybe it's possible to have some fun with it - joke about it, make it into a self deprecating thing. Maybe you could have said 'Well the ultimate would be to have sex while watching Star Trek'. Or maybe not.

Could it be the Geek/Nerd/Square factor? I haven't bumped into any women that like Star Trek as much as I do. My personal experience is that my fandom seems to be "tolerated". This has happened in all but a few rare occassions. Tell them you like Star Trek and The Three Stooges then watch them run for the hills. Sorry to hear you ran into someone so shallow.

followers of specific sorts of issues/all people is mocked while they get lots "into" something that they grow to be obsessed. This preoccupation motives them to grow to be out of touch with the "authentic" international. on an identical time because it may't be obtrusive to them, that's to others that the line between the television show and actuality has grow to be blurred, and that they are living in a synthetic international. additionally, while someone will become captivated with one ingredient, they have a tendency to enable their visual allure and atmosphere bypass. This ignore sends a message to others that they are extraordinary, and that they are prevented. It replaced into reported at a celebrity Trek convention that even William Shatner (Capt. Kirk) replaced into so alarmed on the obsession of lots of the followers that he informed them they had to "get a existence!"

I know a few guys in that are 19-20, and they said they would rather play video games than even date a girl. Some people get obsessed, make sure she knows you are not one of them. If she still doesn't go for it, then she's just making excuses.

Spock said it best in episode 'This Side of Paradise':
"I am what I am, Leila, and if there are self-made purgatories, then we all have to live in them. Mine can be no worse than someone else's."
